Francesco Federico Cerruti Art Foundation ETS
“... as I have always preserved them, not modifying the exhibition choices implemented by me, and ensuring that the public can visit the collections with reasonable frequency and periodicity, in compliance with every legal provision on the protection and preservation of artistic heritage.”
Francesco Federico Cerruti
In February 2001, with the establishment of the Fondazione F.C. per l’Arte, Francesco Federico Cerruti chose to turn to the benefit of the national and international community the work he accomplished during his lifetime by combining his activity as an entrepreneur with his cultural commitment in building a private collection of art objects.
To the Foundation (currently named Fondazione Francesco Federico Cerruti per l'Arte Ets), whose purpose is to protect and enhance the Collection, Federico Cerruti assures his financial support to guarantee its continuity and growth over time and make it the basis for new initiatives, thus hoping to perpetuate the values and sense of patronage that animated him and contribute to making the Cerruti Collection an ever-living reality and a driving force for cultural growth.
Upon his death on July 15, 2015, with a testamentary bequest, the Fondazione F.C. per l’Arte received all the works of art, with the onus of maintaining them in the Rivoli house “as I have always preserved them, not modifying the exhibition choices implemented by me, and ensuring that the public can visit the collections with reasonable frequency and periodicity, in compliance with every legal provision on the protection and preservation of artistic heritage.” Cerruti's will also stipulates that “the permanent exhibition of the Collections shall be named in my name, and so shall be publicised in every document, catalog, reproduction and other” and that “the Collections will constitute unavailable assets of the Foundation and will be bound to the exclusive purpose of the permanent exhibition.”
Between 2016 and 2019, the Villa building is renovated, upgrading the technological infrastructure of security, fire protection system and air conditioning, thus achieving the highest international museum standards for the protection of works of art. The current arrangement of the Collection within the individual rooms of the Villa also integrates its furnishings, so as to become a whole, according to the collector's exhibition choices that significantly contribute to the enhancement of the Collection. In June 2017, an agreement is signed between the Cerruti Foundation and the Castello di Rivoli Museo d’Arte Contemporanea to collaborate on the study, enhancement, public enjoyment and management of the Cerruti Collection, as well as the publication of the catalog and the appointment of the Artistic Director.
In March 2022, the two volumes of the catalogue The Cerruti Collection Catalogue, published by Società Editrice Allemandi, Turin, are the result of a research project that involved 89 Italian and international scholars.
